This is interesting because
it's not the commonly held perception of Poles and other Eastern Europeans here in the Netherlands - with a few exceptions, most people think of them as labourers - agriculture and construction, who do jobs that Dutch people wouldn't do. Many countries in Western Europe also prevent these immigrants from getting jobs. So these immigrants set up companies - a full 3/4th of new businesses set up last year in the Netherlands were by Eastern European immigrants.
And that's precisely why they will rise to be the most affluent group in Western Europe. If the experience of Indians in East Africa is any indication, they were refused jobs all the time in the early late 50s and 60s. they set up businesses and grew incredibly wealthy. They repeated that experience in the UK - especially Leicester. Today Melton Road in Leicester is responsible for the world's largest Indian Jewellery sales outside India.
