Who's editing this...
I read a curious post on seth godin’s blog and I had to ask: “Seth, who’s editing your posts?” :-). In a world of “publish at the speed of thought”, how do you bring editors into your workflow? Does your original writing lose some of its magic (at least to you)?
I think it depends on the content:
- If it’s serious, and intended to teach, a great editor can really help readers/customers LEARN. A day to edit isn’t too bad - and definitely recommended. Get an “educational specialist” to help you edit if you can.
- If it’s serious but just personal reflection, write, go away, come back, edit, and publish.. should be enough ?? A few hours difference…
- If it’s not so serious, and just “what I did today”, by all means, twitter, blog, facebook,…. away… in realtime, and we’ll enjoy the spontaneity and magic of your thought.
P.S. I keep editing my posts - even the older ones to improve the way they convey their message. The point being - well, I like to keep things tidy! :-))
